Oktoberfest History

   The first Oktoberfest took place on October 12, 1810. It was the celebration of a marriage. Crown Prince Ludwig was married to Princess Therese of Saxony-Hildburghausen in Bavaria. Horse racing was a big event on that day, but today, many new activities, such as amusement parks and putting up beer tents are part of the event.

  On October 12, 2016, the 183rd celebration of Oktoberfest will take place. In 1980, a bomb went off and killed 13 people who were attending Oktoberfest in Munich.

  The celebration of Oktoberfest typically starts in mid September and ends early October, lasting about 17 days.

This video is a show that I used to watch to learn German by. Some of the scenes are kind of silly, but it does help when you want to learn a foreign language.

Nothing is more helpful than to listen to a foreign language (immersion) to actually learn the language. You can get a lot of German language videos on Youtube to watch. I do warn my readers though, some of them that I have watched seem a little risqué.
